Shamrock Enterprises, a fully licensed and insured Virginia Class A General Contracting company, was organized in 2003 as the first step in a new concept of joining resources of related companies in the construction industry. Based on years of experience working with highly skilled self-employed technical trades people, it became evident that there was serious weakness in these small business ventures. While many were great tradesmen, business failures were commonplace because owners could not simultaneously manage field operations, sales and marketing, and office operations. And costs of maintaining these operations were generally prohibitive.Yet resolution did not seem impossible.
If these small companies could be brought together in a cooperative environment that still maintained a high level of autonomy and incentive, opportunities could be provided that would mutually benefit all involved, from shared overhead expenses to “in-house” subcontracting possibilities to financial resource availability, as well as intangible benefits like trade-style and name recognition. And the customer base would be better served by the fine skills and abilities of these highly motivated tradesmen who have dedicated themselves to the same standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
By careful establishment of high standards of quality, emphasis on customer service, and sound management practices, this concept is quickly becoming a success. Shamrock Enterprises’ first subsidiary company, Shamrock Restoration, is well on its way to becoming a market leader in the insurance restoration, retail construction, and public sector housing rehabilitation fields.
This success has formed the benchmark for other developing and planned ventures as diverse as inspection services, residential services and products, and real-estate investment. All will emerge using the same high standards and practices, customer service orientation, and incentive-based business development.
